Fact: It can be difficult to find a full hour in your day to dedicate to working out!
I’m not sure I always understood that fact. Having worked in a gym for many years, a “workout” was always just a few steps away. Even after leaving the gym world full-time, I’ve always had plenty of time to get to the gym since I work from home. I can just shift my schedule and make it work.
Enter baby.
I won’t wax on about the time demands, but it’s safe to say that my schedule is much less flexible between daycare drop offs, work, chores, etc. Just like you, I prioritize fitness in my day, but occasionally that leaves me with making a difficult choice between hanging out with Quinn or getting in a solid hour-long CrossFit class.
I’m super excited to share that we’re offering a new 30-minute class called “Sprint” starting December 3rd. It’s perfect for busy schedules, and I promise it will still kick your ass!
I got an unscheduled taste of our upcoming “Sprint” class last week. Quinn was sick all week (the throwing-up-and-constant-coughing kind of sick) so I had limited time to workout. Last Tuesday and Wednesday, I popped into the gym during the afternoon and set my watch for 30 minutes.
Here’s what I was able to get done:
Tuesday
15-minute AMRAP:
Minute 1 – 10 Burpees
Minute 2 – 12 DB Thrusters (35#)
Minute 3 – 12 Cals Assault Bike
Wednesday
7 rounds for time:
7 Box Jumps (24″)
7 Wall Ball (20#)
7 KB Swing (53#)
If you (like me) are finding yourself saying, “That doesn’t look too bad,” let me assure you, I was sprawled out after both workouts. I barely finished the last round of Assault Bike calories on Tuesday, and 7 didn’t seem like such a lucky number on Wednesday.
The point is you can get a lot done in 30 minutes.
What “Sprint” is NOT: Our new Sprint class is not a watered down version of our 60-minute WOD for the day. We’ll still be posting the daily workout here on the website every morning and running 60-minute CrossFit classes throughout the day.
What “Sprint” IS: The Sprint class will be an entirely separate workout – think lighter weights, more reps, less time spent on technical coaching. You’ll get in, spend 5 minutes warming up, and then get right to work. Expect to be moving the entire time (hey, it’s only 30 minutes right?). You will leave sweaty.
A few additional details:
- We’ll have 3 Sprint classes each day starting December 3rd:
- 6:30AM-7:00AM (in place of our existing 6:30AM class)
- 11:30AM-12:00PM
- 5:30PM-6:00PM (in place of our existing 5:30PM class – see next bullet point!)
- 6:30AM-7:00AM (in place of our existing 6:30AM class)
- If you’re a regular 5:30PM attendee, have no fear. We’re going to have a normal hour-long class from 6:00PM-7:00PM!
- Our Sprint classes will be open to all membership levels. If you’re on the 3 days/week membership, it will count towards one of your attendances for the week.
- You’ll still use barbells, dumbbells, wall balls, and all of the other pieces of equipment you dearly love. This isn’t some “no equipment” class. It still embodies the CrossFit methodology of constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity – just over 30 minutes instead of an hour.
The Triib schedule is already updated starting December 3rd. You’ll notice we expanded Open Gym hours and shifted some of our existing classes as well, all in an effort to create more opportunities for you to get in a great workout.
