Physical health is a common reason many new members seek out CrossFit Undeniable. That isn’t the only reason though. In Stephen’s case, he found CrossFit Undeniable as a way to control his mental health as well:
I originally decided to come back to Crossfit after a 4 year hiatus to help control and maintain mental health as well as the overall well being of my physical body.
He’s an Executive Chef in Colorado, and physical activity helps to combat stress he encounters in his day-to-day work.
When he began looking for a CrossFit gym, CrossFit Undeniable stuck out because of the people, not necessarily just the workouts:
CFU showed some great events on your website which demonstrated a great sense of community.
As many members can attest, the idea of starting back with CrossFit is one thing. Actually attending your first class, that can be a whole other animal. Luckily, that community aspect helped to keep him motivated from Day 1:
I contacted Jeremey about a month in advance letting him know that I would like to try out a class and meet some of the members. He reminded me about a week before hand and showed up on my very first day with open arms, listened to what my personal wants and needs were and supported me during my first class (which is probably one of the hardest going into crossfit, other than the second!). Almost nothing has changed with since that day in regards to community and support. Every morning coming in is very welcoming and everyone within the class is always cheering each other on!
Going in, a main goal was to finish “Murph,” a tough hero workout with an inspiring backstory. He smashed that goal this past year and recently set a personal record on his deadlift by more than 50+ lbs! “Seeing my strength come back physically is a pretty awesome feeling,” he mentioned. Hell yes it is!

Reflecting back on the original goal of controlling his mental health, he’s had an amazing level of success:
My biggest change since starting at CFU is that I no longer use medication to help control my anxiety and depression. I am able to spend more quality time with my wife rather than being in my own head.
While strength is awesome, the improvements in mental health are an unbelievable win. Working out has far more benefits outside of physical health (as Chris can attest to as well).
Congrats on the amazing progress, Stephen! We’re super lucky to have you as part of our community. Oh, and kudos on an awesome tacky tourist outfit! 😄
