Governor Polis announced yesterday that Colorado is shifting from a stay-at-home order to a safer-at-home order. While this doesn’t mean we’re completely out of the woods regarding COVID-19, it does mean we can re-open CrossFit Undeniable with specific precautions in place.
If it’s not clear throughout this post, I just want to make it clear that we’re taking this re-opening very seriously. Colorado has eased to safer-at-home guidelines, but that doesn’t mean we’re in the clear regarding COVID-19. We still need to be on our toes.
With all that being said, we’re incredibly excited to have everyone back in the gym! See below on exactly how/when/where we’ll reopen and additional information on when you’ll need to return your equipment loans.
Jeremey will also be running a live Facebook AMA in the Member Group this Thursday (April 23) at 1PM to help answer any questions. You’re also welcome to email info@crossfitundeniable, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
When Will Classes Resume?
Classes will resume at 5AM on April 27th. They’re already in Triib!
Will We Have a “Normal” Schedule?
We’d love to snap our fingers and go back to normal. However, we’re taking a phased approach much like the State of Colorado as we reopen.
To start, we’re opening back up with only CrossFit classes. This means that Bootcamp and CrossFit Kids will still be put on pause for right now.
We’ll offer hour-long CrossFit classes Monday through Friday at 5AM, 6AM, 11AM, 12PM, 4PM, 5PM, and 6PM. For Saturdays, we’ll offer classes starting every 30 minutes at 8AM, 8:30AM, 9AM, and 9:30AM. Our goal is to balance availability, efficiency, and safety of both our coaches and members.
For availability, we want to create opportunities for as many people as possible to attend. Regarding efficiency, we want to offer classes when people are available. Hopefully, the temporary schedule creates opportunities for individuals that still need to work and flexible options for individuals that might be on a different schedule currently. Finally, with safety, we want to bunch classes and minimize general “hang out” time where coaches are away from home.
Will Class Caps Still Be at 15?
Following guidance from the safer-at-home order, we’re limiting class sizes to 10 people. This will be available on a registration basis, and we’re aware that popular class times will cap out. Hopefully, the times offer enough availability. This is something we’ll certainly be watching.
This means that it will be more important than ever to be mindful of registering for classes via Triib and un-registering if you can’t make a class.
What About Saturdays?
With 10-person class caps, Saturdays, which generally have classes of 25+, present an interesting hurdle. Rather than spreading out classes across the morning, we’ll be consolidating classes into a 2.5 hour period and running them simultaneously with multiple coaches.
We’ll have hour-long classes starting every 30 minutes at 8AM, 8:30AM, 9AM, and 9:30AM. Each class will spend the first 30 minutes inside with a specific workout. Then, the class will transition outside for a separate workout.
In this way, everyone will be able to get in an effective workout while keeping the size of the group in any area under 10. We’ll also wipe down equipment after every use.
What Precautions Will Be In Place?
Class caps and a modified schedule are two pieces to the puzzle. We’ll be doing everything in our power to make CrossFit Undeniable a safe place to be.
For starters, we’re going to be doing a deep clean of the entire facility wiping down all surfaces at the end of this week ahead of our re-opening. This includes all equipment being returned from our equipment loan program.
Regarding workouts, we will not program any workouts that involve the sharing of equipment or physical touching.
Regarding physical spacing in the gym, we’ll be spacing out the rowers and bikes to allow for more distance between individuals. We’ll also open up two doors—one designated for in and the other for out. Finally, we’ll have designated markers on the floor to help you maintain the appropriate spacing during workouts.
Following workouts, all equipment used will be thoroughly wiped down and cleaned. We’ll also have hand sanitizer and ample soap available. We’ll be encouraging hand washing before and after class.
When Do I Need to Return Equipment I’ve Borrowed?
With the gym re-opening on Monday, April 27, our equipment loan program will stop. All equipment will need to be returned during either of the following times:
- Friday, April 24 between 9AM-12PM
- Saturday, April 25 between 9AM-12PM
If you have supplies, please wipe down your equipment before bringing it in. Either way, we’ll be wiping it down once you bring it back!
All equipment needs to be returned. If you can’t make one of the above windows, you’ll need to email email@example.com to set up a separate time.
Will You Continue to Offer At-Home Programming?
We recognize that even though we’re re-opening for classes, not everyone will feel comfortable venturing out in public yet or be able to attend classes for various reasons. We’ll continue to offer a home version of the workout every day through Triib and YouTube. We’re also exploring other options like live virtual workouts or other ways to hold individuals accountable outside the gym.
Since all equipment will need to be returned, these at-home workouts will utilize very little equipment and offer bodyweight substitutions when possible. If you have a set of your own dumbbells available, that’s perfect. Otherwise, we recommend using a weighted sandbag as a loading option.
When Will All of This Change?
Colorado is approaching the re-opening in two week increments. We’re taking the same approach at CrossFit Undeniable. We intend for the approach above to be in place through Saturday, May 9th. We’ll continue to evaluate based on feedback and state guidelines.
With that in mind, we’re staying flexible and fluid! If you have feedback, please feel free to let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d love to hear from you, and we’ll absolutely consider any feedback you have.
