The goal of our Powerlifting course is to help participants build raw strength, specifically focused on the bench press, squat, deadlift, and strict press. You’ll see these movements pop up in our traditional CrossFit classes, and you will build strength working on them there. However, if your goal is to specifically lift heavier weights, our Powerlifting program will help you get there.
During the initial class, you’ll work up to a working one-rep max across the four lifts – back squat, deadlift, bench press, and strict press. You’ll use those numbers as benchmarks throughout the rest of the six-week cycle.
Across the cycle, you’ll work with a coach in a small group setting to improve form and perform lifts with targeted loads designed to increase your maximum strength.
At the end of the cycle, you’ll complete the same four lifts again with a one-rep max intensity. Many of our participants exceed their lifetime PRs in one or more lifts after just six weeks. Check out our recap of a recent Powerlifting cycle as an example.
We run our Powerlifting specialty class once a year over a six-week period although we’ll run additional workshops throughout the year. During the six-week cycle, classes run three times per week for a total of 18 classes (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Each class is coach-led, and the program is limited to a maximum of 15 participants so each athlete gets individual feedback on their technique.
While we will have scheduled workouts throughout the week, you will receive the workouts over email, and you’re welcome to complete them on your own during our Open gym times.
Our next Powerlifting workshop will be on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM. We’ll spend three hours going over lifting technique in-depth and practicing a myriad number of drills to improve performance.
The workshop will kickstart our next six-week Powerlifting cycle, which will start on Monday, October 14, 2019.
This includes unlimited access to all classes for the duration of the Powerlifting program.Sign Up (Available Soon)
This cycle went beyond my expectations. It was full of great coaching, cues and accessory work. Throughout this program I gained strength as well as confidence in each of my lifts. This was so much more than just programming and that is what made it great. Being in the gym with others working to better these lifts created an environment of growth and successes that we were able to celebrate together-way better than lifting alone!Autumn C.
I came into this Powerlifting cycle with the hope of simply improving my form. I never imagined that my strength would improve as much as it did. It was a blast to come in and lift with a bunch of friends, who pushed you on those really heavy lifts. Also, having Zach push you to be better with the best possible form is what made this cycle one of a kind. This cycle blew my expectations out of the water! The only area of improvement to the cycle is for it to be longer!Becca S.
